I love the heart and mission behind Open Arms, an organization based in Austin, TX. They hire refugee survivors to make clothes from 100% recycled materials. It is brilliant on so many levels.
Refugees are such an underserved population. I can only imagine how it would feel to start over in a brand new place, learn the language, heal from whatever suffering you experienced in your country of origin, and try to find work and provide for your family. Open Arms stands in the gap and gives refugee women a living wage and a chance at making it in the US.
Right now, their focus is on Red: "the symbol of love, strength, life, death, courage and vitality."
Their new promotion began November 2 and runs throughout the holiday. Buy any two items, get the holiday red scarf FREE. How's that for a good deal? Better yet, what you buy will make a long-term difference in the lives of the refugee workers.
I have friends who own both skirts and scarves from Open Arms and they rave about them. These will make great gifts for others...or for yourself.
Open Arms has generously offered to give a Holiday Red Scarf to one HopefulLeigh reader. It is most beauteous.
Please follow the directions in the Rafflecopter widget to enter and be sure to take advantage of the extra entry options, too. The giveaway will be run until this Thursday at midnight EST and is open to US and Canada residents only. The winner will have 48 hours to respond via email; if no response, a new winner will be drawn.
Happy entering!
And remember- even if you don't win, you can still get that fabulous red scarf by buying two items from Open Arms.
