I remember how I first started reading A Deeper Story. A few of the bloggers I followed announced they'd be writing monthly for this new site. A site that allowed them to ask the messy questions and share the unresolved stories of life and faith.
It resonated right away. I was blown away by the honesty and vulnerability. This is where I met some of my favorite writers and now friends. The Deeper Story writers don't shy away from anything. It seems like almost every topic has been broached to some degree. We don't all have the same theology or politics. We don't always see eye to eye. But we're listening to one another's stories and this helps us to remember we are sitting at the same table. We may not change our mind about an issue but we will better understand our friend and their point of view. We could use a little more understanding in this day and age.
It didn't take long for me to secretly dream that one day I'd be a Deeper Story writer as well. If not a writer, maybe they'd let me guest post. Fingers crossed.
I remember the day I got an email inviting me to be a part of A Deeper Family. I read it once, twice, thrice. Thrilled with shock. They said I could pray about it but there was no need. This had been my prayer and it fell into my lap.
"YES!" I wrote back, enthusiastic, giddy. "No take backs," I warned Megan. That night my best friend and I toasted to my success. Few things in writing come easily and I could not believe my good fortune to be part of such an amazing site.
Up to this point, Nish Weiseth- Editor-in-Chief Extraordinaire- has paid for everything out of pocket for Deeper Story. Hosting costs (which aren't cheap), web design, troubleshooting. When I add up the numbers, her commitment to ADS blows me away. As the site has grown, so has its needs.
Today she's asking us for help. I hope you'll read and consider. I hope you'll donate. I know I will.
