I fell in love with a new bookstore a few weeks ago.
I was back in my hometown for a few days and talking to my parents about the places I missed in Nashville (I lived there for 5 years) and of course McKay Books was at the top of the list. McKay is a giant used bookstore in a warehouse and they also sell CDs, DVDs, and video games. It is heaven.
We started talking about how it seemed like there weren’t any used bookstores in the western Chicago suburbs anymore. Then my mom mentioned an acquaintance who owned a used bookstore a few towns over.
Lo and behold Cornerstone Used Books is not only in Villa Park, it’s been around for 16 years! Mom and I went the very next day and my mind exploded from how amazing this place is. The website says they have over 50,000 titles in the store and I believe it.
Funny enough, I had a friend who used to live right around the corner from Cornerstone. I have no idea how I never knew it was there. It's on a major road but visibility isn't that great, unless you're looking for it. That's my excuse at least!
I regret not buying that Jaci Burton novel.
When the shelves are this stuffed, you have to get creative with the Staff Recommends cards. I thought this was a brilliant solution!
Huge selection for every genre and prices are 50% off list price or lower. I could have browsed for hours!
Here's what I bought! I've read all but the Shelly Laurenston title. When I'm at used bookstores, I look for books that I've read and loved but do not own.
This was my favorite find! I’ve never seen this cover before and I am quite smitten.
This place is going to be a regular stop when I’m back in my hometown for sure.
